Recycling in McKean County

McKean County provides a drop-off recycling center in Smethport at 17189 Route 6 next to the 911 Center which is free for anyone to use.  The center is zero-sort; but materials need to be clean.  Do not deposit plastic bags in the bin. No recyclables are to be placed or left outside of the bin.  Do not open the bin door while the compactor is running. This service is provided by the county and staffed by the Good Growing Gardens program. 
The recycling center is open weekdays, from 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM Monday, Wednesday,  Thursday,  Friday and 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM on Tuesdays.  The Center is closed on holidays.  For questions regarding the center - 814-598-1126.

For use after hours, contact the McKean County Planning Commission at 814-887-2754 to purchase access fobs ($10 to obtain; $5 annually to renew).

Glass Recycling Drop Off Program in McKean County​

Drop-off your glass bottles and jars (any color) used for food, beverages, candles, perfumes or colognes at any of our locations across McKean County, PA. Containers must be rinsed of residue and free of corks, caps, and lids; labels can stay on.

McKean County locations require color-sorting. Drop-off containers are separated by color and clearly marked; please place your glass bottles and jars in the appropriate container, sorted by color.
Please do not put any bags or boxes into the carts.
Please remember, place only glass bottles and jars in the carts.
